On Sunday morning,
March 19th, members and guests mingled in the Club parking lot
and enjoyed bloody marys, mimosas and screwdrivers before
boarding their chartered bus for the hour and a half trip to the
Sarasota Polo Club. When we arrived, the bus was parked along
the end of our designated area on the "members' side" of the
playing field and Chef Rick and Nicole, our favorite
bartender/server, unloaded and set up the lunch buffet which
consisted of an absolutely yummy Louisiana styled Gumbo, pasta
salad with shrimp and crabmeat, Italian Pannini and Cuban
Sandwiches, assorted fresh vegetables, and homemade cookies ...
and not to forget iced cold Bud and Coors Light and a full,
array of red and white wines, soft drinks and bottled water.
What a tailgate party!! The event, which was co-chaired by Dick
& Linda Devlin and Lee & Carol Sutliffe was the third of a kind
of ever popular trips which have all been well attended.
Everyone enjoyed the spectacular weather, participated in the
"stomping of the divits" during half-time, and asked the
chairpersons to do it again next year. Then it was back on the
bus for a very pleasant ride home where we arrived 6pm.
