The September 3rd Cruise
Connection Meeting marked the end of
one “boating year” the start of
another. The attendance prize
was awarded to Elaine Slaughter
while the 50/50 drawings were won by
Pam Simon,
Dennis Berger,
and Terri Natale.
During the Award Presentation
following the boaters meeting,
Commodore Minahan was presented the
“Cruise Leaders Plaque” listing the
names of all the members who led a
cruise during the year and flowers
were presented to Judy.
The highlight of the evening was the
presentation of awards to those
boaters who distinguished themselves
during the year. The “Boater of the
Year” was awarded to Kris and Rich
Weiner who accumulated a total of
281 points throughout the year. The
“Bent Prop” award went to Rich Geib
for his inability to stay between
the markers and Marv Market captured
the “Atta Boy” award for coming to
the aid of an injured fellow boater
during a cruise. The “Boater of the
Quarter” award went to Ellen and
Herb Schneider while Certificates of
Achievement were presented to those
First Mates who participated in the
MarineMax sponsored “Women On Water”
(WOW) program coordinated by Mary
and Don Clausen. The final
presentation, the “Outstanding
Leadership Award”, was made to Fleet
Captain Bob Thomas by Commodore
Minahan and Fleet Captain Bob
presented Karen with flowers
thanking her for all her help in
keeping him on track and organized
while running the fleet.
