I think it is safe to
say that the four boats that made
this cruise (Weiners, Hatters,
Scheinerts and Ingrahams) all had a
good time. Unfortunately, our
Co-Leaders, Susan and Jim Hill, were
unable to go because of a necessary
boat part that was back ordered.
We spent the first
night at the newly renovated Boca
Grande Marina. Dinner at the South
Beach Restaurant was excellent and
followed by imbibing in “Hummer”
drinks and a rousing game of Left,
Right, Center.
Our next stop was at
Sarasota YC. We enjoyed a very
lively rendition of the play “Call
Me Madam” at the Golden Apple Dinner
Theater. The next morning, we spent
time at an Art Show and Farmers
Market downtown Sarasota.
I’m not going to
tell you what happened to Ed Hatter,
but the next time you talk to him,
ask him about his Air Sep Filters!!!
Our next stop was St.
Petersburg YC where we attended a
Tampa Bay Devil Rays vs. Florida
Marlins baseball game and then had
time on our own to tour this
wonderful city and then enjoy a
great meal at the YC, followed by
more “Hummers” and LRC.
Next we headed up to
Clearwater YC. We enjoyed an
exciting game of Miniature Golf that
was won by the ladies. The next
day, we played our first “Bocci on
the Beach” game and after a heated
battle, the men were triumphant.
Our next stop was at
Pasadena Yacht and Country Club
which none of us had ever been to.
It proved to be a very worthwhile
stop with beautiful
facilities…Olympic size pool,
tennis, golf, fitness center, etc.
and an excellent restaurant.
Continuing our trek
south, we spent Memorial Weekend at
Bradenton Beach Marina where we all
had a good time seeing Anna Marie
Island from the free Trolley. Our
second Beach Bocci game ended with
the same results… the men squeaked
out another win. Not to be outdone,
the ladies triumphed in lively
billiard games. Judy Ingraham,
playing for the first time, was the
overall winner. More “Hummers”, and
several new exciting dice games
introduced by the Scheinerts.
Another interesting
occurrence happened during our Bocci
game. A Tampa TV station was
filming a segment on Anna Marie
Island, and not only filmed some of
our Beach Bocci game, but actually
interviewed none other than Ed
Hatter. The segment aired on the
4:00 pm news. So next time you see
Ed ask him for his autograph
