The RPYC Cruise to Venice Yacht Club
as one HOT time for all! Leaders
Gary and Kathy Tapken, Paula Maples
And John Goodwin planned for the
weather to be at its peak summertime
glory, and it was! From the
welcoming hospitality (had to watch
Gary’s potent Bahama-mamas!) to the
farewell dockside pancake and
sausage breakfast (and libations)
our very cordial leaders made sure
that the RPYC cruisers were made
comfortable and well-fed and
hydrated, despite the record temps.
Fortunately, Venice Yacht Club’s
pool is very user friendly, and
cruisers took advantage of it all
day, every day. We also managed to
keep the Tiki Bar in business ,
enjoying their various frozen
specialties. On Friday evening, we
could choose from several
“family-friendly” alternatives for
dinner at the club. Saturday
evening we joined in with the club’s
Haul Out Party, as the club was
closing for its annual shut-down the
next day. RPYC diners enjoyed the
wealth of scrumptious selections, as
the chefs kept bringing our more
delicacies. We probably left behind
a reputation for fondness of
oysters-on-the-halfshell! Best of
all, there was not a drop of rain in
Venice during the cruise...now how
did our cruise leaders arrange that
in August? All in all, it was a
terrific summer cruise!
